Request - Removing footprints from changed components

We've been having occasional problems with footprints being retained by components in the PCB when making changes to the schematic.
It happens when a new schematic component is created that does not yet have a footprint assigned to it. Our process often has a second person assigning footprints to newly created parts. In the PCB the new component retains the old footprint instead of removing the part from the PCB and flagging it as not having a footprint for the second person to act on. Sometimes such parts can be overlooked, especially if the same part is used multiple times.
Can this be changed to at least highlight parts that are not using footprints assigned to them in their schematic library symbol? Ideally we'd want them removing from the PCB but dulling them out in the same way as removed parts and tracks would also be acceptable.
