Colour LCD Displays.

Post by Iain »

We are considering some development work on colour GLCD's in the near future. In order to judge demand and better direct the development could we ask anyone who uses such displays to please post which controller(s) or parts they commonly work with.

Thanks,
Iain.

Hi,
If you really want a challenge I am using these colour dosplays from 4D systems.

http://www.4dsystems.com.au/prod.php?id=34

I still think CAN support would be simpler and more beneficial.

Bobby

I suggest :
- NOKIA 6610 LCD (Philips PCF8833 or Epson S1D15G00 controler)
- GE-FAR GFT035EA320240Y (Himax HX8238-A controler)
- Hitachi TX09D71VM1CCA

Hi,

I have built a project using the PIC24FJ128GA010 and a 320 x 240 LCD from Tech-toys of Hong Kong. Very successful! (Not sure of the GLCD part number).

How you plan to model such a complex system in ISIS when it can't even cope with a PIC18F4550 running a 2 x 16 graphics LCD without straining my dual-core system to the max, is beyond me!! I have a dual core machine running at 2.79GHz with 1.5GB RAM and it struggles with ISIS sims!

I have designed several circuits in ISIS, only to have them fail or run verrrry sloooow! Then you have the cheek to ask if I want a £500 upgrade to my licence

I'd probably want to see a demo before I bought a GLCD add-on.

Hi Dave,

Please send your .dsn file and compiled firmware to info@labcenter.co.uk. Sure we can do some corrections and your schematic will be simulated much faster. For example just replacing analogue resistors with digital ones in the nets where they will be enough may increase simulation speed really significantly!

By the way if you can find any other schematic simulator which simulates microcontrollers as fast as Proteus I will be really surprised.

Cheers,
Andrew.

Andrew,

See my post under 'PIC 18F4550 Config word'

Just a PIC, 2x16 line display and a couple of gates. There are a couple of analogue resistors in the reset circuit (which also doesn't work as per the real circuit!).
The simulation is not fast at all, but I think it may have something to do with the config word. The counted frequency is also wrong (correct on the real thing).

Can anyone tell me where i can actually buy one of these displays, better still can anyone tell me where to get the data sheet from.
As yet I haven't installed v7.7 so . . .

Here hoping

The Electronic assembly series EA LEDXXXX of LCD displays:

Best of all, they are inexpensive !!!!!!!!!

The world wide most flexible Display Series:
Superflat, Text, Graphic, SPI, various colors !!!!

One question to the development team: What is the roadmap for release of these LCD display models?

Thank you!

According to the datasheet, that is just a backlight, and not the LCD display.

Still, the series is not too expensive, starting at about $12/single pc.
