On several occasions I have missed a component reference text being in the wrong place - e.g. over the top of the pad for an adjacent part. When the PCB is produced, the reference obviously ends up missing.
I was thinking that it would be nice to have a design rule to check for such things. Then I did a quick read of the description of "Graphics clearance" in the design rules.
I would have thought that this might have triggered a warning to the problem but then I also cannot recall having ever had a graphics clearance DRC warning (but I could be wrong).
Under what circumstances does the Graphics Clearance rule get triggered? I did try drawing a simple rectangle over some component pads and it didn't complain.

Re: Component reference design rule/Graphics Clearance
Hi Andrew,
The Graphic Clearance DRC rule is for the Slot layer and Board Edge graphics. Top and Bottom silk and are allowed over pads. I will raise a case.
Regards,
Dave.
