Inclusion of "Not Fitted" components on variant BOMs

Post by SamM »

Is there any way of generating a Bill of Materials which includes components that are not fitted on the currently chosen assembly variant?

It would be preferable for us (and also our CEMs) to have every component which is on the silk screen / assembly drawing to be accounted for on the BOM. Not fitted components would be listed on the BOM as NF or similar and grouped together at the end of each category.

This way, missing components on a PCB assembly can be quickly checked against the BOM to see if they have been intentionally omitted.

Thanks,
Sam

You can get quite close to that with a BOM Project Note containing a Variant Comparison project data. To do this create a new Project Note in the Project Notes module with a type of "Bill Of Materials Note". Then insert a Project Data object of type Variant Comparison. Now when you export the BOM as PDF or print and have Append Project Notes checked the variant comparison table listing all not fitted parts for every variant will be included.

I appreciate this is not quite what you want as the extra details for the other variants will also be present.
