No CDB part record for physical element U?

Post by TimBox100 »

Hi All

My PCB lay out has started generating an error. "No CDB part record for physical element U? with UID=00000006. [U?]"

I'm at a loss to what the cause of it is. It was all ok until I tried to use an old part I added to the lib, I then imported a new part for the same device. No change. I tried deleting the part completely and saving closing reopening etc. But no change.

Searching on line talks about the Property assignment tool but that seems to be a read herring.

Any idea?

Thanks

Tim

I found the issue

U1 was changed to U? So I changed it back to U1 and now it wants to delete the part and make me retrack (almost) the entire board.

Obviously I'm not going to do that

HELP!!

Additional info

I changed a previous layout U1 to U? and got the error but its not reversable. I kills the board eg the device is presumed to be a brand new part and you have to retrack the lot.

Re routing was not so much trouble after all.

I was able to trace the routes before committing the change. But be it a warning not to let a part number change to anything with an ? in it.
