PCB separate file for board edge-outline

Hi,

My PCB manufacturer requires me to provide them with a separate file for the PCB outline. He knows that the PCB outline can be included in one or more layers of the CADCAM fabrication file, but he prefers to have a dedicated (text) file to avoid confusion during data preparation.

It's better you build a single outline layer, as below information shows, then there is no any confusion for our engineer and we can handle your orders faster, tks a lot!

I saw a similar request here for another PCB manufacturer :

I didn't found how to create a dedicated file for this ? Am I missing something ?

When I am asked for this, I copy the board outline to a mechanical layer, and output that as a gerber file. I omit adding board outline to any of the other layers.

Hi,

In 8.15 this is provided in the SLOT cadcam file. If you do not have any Slots on the board, only the Board edge will be in it.
