Importing V7 Projects to V8

Post by Iain »

The procedure for importing V7 Schematic & Layout to V8 is twofold :

1) Use the import legacy wizard (Proteus 8 Home Page or file menu).
2) Turn live netlisting on from the tools menu in ARES to preform an initial sync between schematic and layout.

After Stage 1 the schematic and layout have been brought into Proteus 8 exactly as they were in Proteus 7 (i.e. two seperate entities). However, there is no binding between the two, nor has any netlist information been passed from schematic to layout (Live netlisting is switched off). This is because the relationship between the schematic connectivity and the layout connectivity is unknown and we do not want to automatically make changes to a layout that may not be intended (or go unnoticed) by the designer. You must therefore turn live netlisting on manually from the toggle on the Tools menu in ARES to synch the schematic and layout before doing any further work on the project.

This initial synch will pass the connectivity of the schematic through to the layout and will also bind the parts on the layout to the components on the schematic in the project database.

I've re-read the documentation (@SP0) and this isn't very clear; we will update accordingly for the forthcoming SP1 release.

Apologies if this has caused confusion.
