makepackage loses pin numbers (inverted package)

Hi, I am needing to iteratively convert two 'packages' consisting of a 64pin connectors with named pins to bussed versions. I have no problem with the connector the normal way up - pins 1, 2 at the top, 63,64 at the bottom - decompose, change the required pins to a bussed version, then makepackage r...

Reversing the bits between two buses

I need to reverse the bits in some buses :
Bus_A[0] <> Bus_B[15]
Bus_A[1] <> Bus_B[14]
etc.
Am I right that the only way to do this is with 16 named lines between each pair of buses ?
cheers,

Re: Ground plane

OK, I do not know what has changed, but it is now working normally. I deleted the board edge as I wanted to change it, and the (invisible) ground plane went away. I then re-drew the new board edge, and when I re-created the ground plane using Power Plane Generator I got a normal, visible power plane...

Re: Ground plane

I am also having trouble with a power plane. I have used them OK before in an earlier version - I have just upgraded to V7.8 (level 0). I can create a power plane (lower copper, net GND=POWER) using power plane generator - although I can not see it whatever display settings I choose, if I click on i...

Optimising Ares layout rules for RF ?

Hi, May I ask advice as to how I can optimise the Ares layout rules for RF ? While Ares is basically doing a reasonable job at laying out my current design, which is for RF use, some traces are longer than ideal. I have a ground plane and two power planes, and I would like rules that wherever possib...

Re: FPGAs: Is it possible to import pin-structure from text ?

Ah, thanks Iain, that is much clearer now. What I have done is create an Apl script that will read Altera spreadsheets, ie for the 100 pin variant of the Cyclone EP1C3 : example-spr.jpg The Apl script outputs in the two formats used by ISIS Packaging Tool. Firstly : I notice one can load and save th...

Re: FPGAs: Is it possible to import pin-structure from text ?

Something else related that I think needs upgrading for large FPGAs, is that there seems to be a limit of about 8 for the number of common Gnd or VCC power pins that are allowed, either in the GUI or in text load. I have had to create ficticious Gnd1, Gnd2, Gnd3 to overcome this : {PP (GND1) = 10/40...

Re: FPGAs: Is it possible to import pin-structure from text ?

Thanks for the quick reply Iain, Yes there are various right-click options I had not seen : Copy Pinout Script Spike Pinout Script (anyone any idea what that does ?) Paste Pinout Script Load Pin information Script Now I can save partial pin info, which is giving me the correct format (this is just t...

FPGAs: Is it possible to import pin-structure from text ?

Hi, I am hoping to use Proteus to work with large Altera FPGAs. I have entered the pin names and numbers for one 240 pin device manually but before I do any more, is there any way to import these from an external text file ? I have looked at the Proteus library files and unfortunately they seem to b...

Re: Power Plane : BUG from 7.6 SP3 ???

OK, I think I have found the solution to my problem, don't know if it will fix problems with files from earlier versions, that started this thread ..... It is in the manual, it was what I quoted earlier, but I thought the ability to turn it on and off only applied to Level 2 and higher. Set an arrow...

Re: Power Plane : BUG from 7.6 SP3 ???

I read "Routing to Power Planes It is important that all power planes to which you wish to route are marked as ‘route to this zone’. This option can be found on the edit zone dialogue form for the power plane and is enabled by default for planes generated via the Power Plane Generator command o...

Re: Power Plane : BUG from 7.6 SP3 ???

I also am having power plane problems with 7.6 SP3. I am a new user, so perhaps I am doing something wrong. I have created a simple design in ISIS, no problem : It has two grounds AGnd, DGnd; these are linked, and also, for simplicity joined to an earth point named Gnd. When the circuit is transfere...
